Project Details

 

When E&E Foods decided to increase their freezing capacity to 600,000 lbs per day at their Big Creek facility on the Egegik River, they chose MER Equipment for the upgrade. Our successful 6-Megawatt Port Moller project, where we implemented six synchronized generators running in automated load-sharing mode, inspired and paved the way for this next venture.

A 3.7 Megawatt fully synchronized system with 100% redundancy was designed. The system, which includes six generators of varying capacities, is fully automated and designed to run at the required capacity from camp startup to maximum freezer capacity. Our goal was to minimize fuel consumption and maximize efficiency.

BKR Construction began construction on the new facility in the summer of 2023, and by the fall, the roof was on and most of the equipment was in place. By Spring 2024, all the electrical loads were connected, paralleling controls programmed, and the system commissioned. The plant is now in operation and processing salmon.
